Museums and Libraries

Both the Illinois State Museum and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum have exhibits that appeal to all ages and accommodate all abilities. The latter is Springfield's most popular attraction, drawing more than half a million visitors a year. To avoid disappointment, groups need to book well in advance through the Springfield Illinois Convention & Visitors Bureau. While the Presidential Library is geared toward those doing scholarly research, the city's main public library, known as the Lincoln Library, is a resource integral to the community. Visitors may want to stop in and spend a restful moment reading or looking at the art displays. This fully accessible facility is located a block north of the Lincoln Home Visitors Center.
