The Springfield Art Association has promoted and supported the visual arts in Greater Springfield for more than 95 years. In addition to the Edwards Place historic home (see separate listing under Historic Sites) which it was deeded in 1914, the Association maintains and operates a School of Art with workshops and classes for youth and adults, an extensive Art Library and a Gallery of Art. Each year the Gallery hosts four to six exhibitions featuring national, regional and local artists working in either fine arts or fine crafts. The exhibitions range from the traditional to the contemporary and also draw from the SAA permanent collection. Artworks by SAA students and faculty are also exhibited throughout the year. For details on the current show and upcoming events such as lectures or film screenings, visit the SAA website.
