Springfield's Amtrak station is in the heart of downtown, just one and a half blocks west of the Old State Capital. Two routes run through the city: the Lincoln between St. Louis and Chicago and the Texas Eagle between Chicago and San Antonio. Travel time is approximately 3 1/2 hours from Chicago and 2 hours from St. Louis. Even on unreserved trains, persons using wheelchairs need to reserve a wheelchair space or transfer seat since these facilities are limited. Boarding is by manual chair lift which can be arranged either by calling ahead or arriving early. Advance notice is also required for persons traveling with medical oxygen. Accessible accommodations and discounts are available only by phone or in person. See the "Special Needs and Accessibility" section of the website for additional information.
